Another amazing story of God's healing and saving power

While we await a determination on the future of our own mission group, I need to share this awesome story from The Jesus Film people.

The story is from Thailand, a country in Southeast Asia where over 94 percent of the population practices Buddhism. Hence, hundreds of thousands die each year believing they are doomed to an endless cycle of karma and reincarnation. Most never meet a follower of Jesus or read a Bible verse. In a country of over 68 million people, fewer than 500,000 are classified as evangelical Christians. Seems an ideal place for a Jesus Film outreach!

Somchai, a victim of advanced leprosy in Southeast Asia, went to an evangelistic outreach looking for healing. He felt like an outsider as he listened.

THE FIRST MIRACLE

The evangelist asked the crowd, “Who wants to follow Jesus?” … and “Who needs healing and believes Jesus can heal you?”

Somchai, a victim of advanced leprosy, felt like an outsider as he listened. Still, he raised his leprous hands both times, AND gave his life to Christ. As he prayed, the spots and lesions began to disappear and then completely vanish. His damaged and scarred fingers, however, remained stubs. Because God had a plan.

Somchai’s miracle compelled him to want others with leprosy to be healed, too, in body and soul. He knew that the film ‘JESUS’ would be the perfect tool. So for the next 20 years, he showed ‘JESUS’ in leper colonies. Somchai would raise his scarred hands as evidence that he once had leprosy, and declare: “And Jesus can heal you too!” Somchai’s son reports that many were healed and thousands came to Christ. But God didn’t stop there.

THE SECOND MIRACLE

Somchai’s ‘JESUS’ film showings were in partnership with the American Baptist hospital in the area. Along with the film, he and the hospital staff conducted educational outreaches, workshops and seminars on how to combat leprosy.

Through their teamwork, leprosy was completely eradicated from four districts in northern Thailand! To this day, Somchai still shows the ‘JESUS’ film to unreached people. He holds up his stubby fingers, declaring, “Man had no use for me, but God could still use me.”

Somchai is one of thousands of workers, faithful team members and partner evangelists who actively show ‘JESUS’ to unreached people. They take ‘JESUS’ to unreached towns and villages, meet with the new believers, make disciples and plant churches. They reach people on the internet too, using ‘JESUS’. The impact of these film teams is amazing, both worldwide and for eternity.

A REMINDER

Please direct your givings to other mission groups rather than Bibles for Mideast until we determine our future. We still need your prayers, however!
